the girls by emma cline

Cults are fascinating to me. With documentaries like HOLY HELL thrusting cult fascination back into the spotlight, a new novel entitled THE GIRLS by Emma Cline puts another interesting spin on ‘cult’ life. While it’s not without it’s fault, it’s a solid easy read.

I was introduced to Colleen Hoover only last year through a book inquiry via NetGallery. In just over a few days time, I had devoured her then latest novel NOVEMBER 9TH, and Colleen Hoover had gained another fan.

When I saw the novel IT ENDS WITH US available on NetGallery I jumped at the chance to read it. It definitely didn’t disappoint.

the outliers by kimberly mccreight

First and foremost, I’m happy to see that this is the first in a trilogy. When you read the rest of my review, you’ll understand why….

THE OUTLIERS by Kimberly McCreight is this author’s first foray into young adult territory. McCreight’s adult novels (I’ve always hated the labels adult vs. young adult) are some of my favourite reads. Her breakthrough novel RECONSTRUCTING AMELIA was one of the best debuts ever.

THE OUTLIERS, on the other hand, doesn’t debut with as much of a bang as her past novels. A great set up to what could be a fantastic story, I found THE OUTLIERS to get bogged down in too much of the unnecessary and not enough of the plot.

people who knew me

This book is SO. GOOD. I really didn’t know what to expect going in and after reading a chapter of the novel, I opted to not re-read the description (too-spoilery, who wrote this?) and just let myself be surprised. I was so glad I did. New author Kim Hooper delivers her first novel entitled PEOPLE WHO KNEW ME and it’s heartbreakingly divine.

Continue reading cam girl by leah raeder

Things I was not expecting this novel to be: crude and over the top. I’m not a prude. I just have a limit to excessive sexual content … and this book reached it. A did not finish at 50%, CAM GIRL by Leah Raeder is definitely the novel you have to read the fine print on.

luckiest girl alive

This novel came out of nowhere for me. A novel I originally picked up and discarded over a year ago, LUCKIEST GIRL ALIVE by Jessica Knoll crept back into my consciousness, and thus, I picked it up again.

Boy, I was glad I did.

A novel about how mistakes in the youth warp your entire life path, this novel is dark. Be forewarned.
